Diesel prices drop for 28th consecutive month

C.H. Robinson is watching events in the Middle East and the impact on the flow and cost of oil from there. An increase in the cost of oil could lead to higher operational costs for carriers, as diesel is a big portion of their expense. Diesel prices have decreased steadily over the past two years, which has been a tailwind for carriers while other costs increased. If diesel prices increase significantly, it could become impactful on a carrier’s ability to remain profitable and in business.
The national U.S. average diesel price per gallon of $3.60 in June is down from $3.50 in May and still lower than the $3.72 average from June 2024. This marks the 28th consecutive month of year-over-year decreases in fuel.
